Introducing Stephen Mazzagatti, a Personal Safety, Security, and Survival Consultant.

Stephen Mazzagatti, Martell Training Group, LLC’s founder and safety consultant, retired from the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) as Unit Head assigned to the Firearms Investigation Unit in 2020.

Professional Background

Early Career

Stephen was assigned to various road stations throughout Central and South Jersey. He then earned detective designation and became proficient in computer crime investigations involving child exploitation and cybercrime.

Working as a Lieutenant

During his 25 year career as a New Jersey State Trooper, he handled various cases related to  firearm laws, firearm-related issues, cybercrime, internet crimes against children (ICAC), and more. He has also worked closely with important people in the chain of command and other agencies, such as:

  • The NJSP Command Staff
  • The NJ Attorney General's Office
  • The NJ Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC)
  • Federal Agencies such as; FBI, BATF, DEA, HSI
  • Various National and International Law Enforcement

Joining the Aviation Team

During his assignment to the NJSP Aviation Bureau, he attained Pilot-in-Command (PIC) status for police flight operations. These operations included:

  • Medical Evacuation (SouthSTAR)
  • Executive Transport (High Ranking Officials, Governor)
  • Aerial Surveillance
  • Search and Rescue
  • Aerial Crime Scene Photography/Videography
  • Aerial Support for Various Operations

Education

  • Master of Arts in Education Administration and Supervision from Seton Hall University
  • Bachelor of Arts in General Science (Biology and Computer Science) from Rutgers University
